The municipality of Skellefteå provides three staffed “Meeting Points” in local communities with large asylum populations. The “Meeting Points” aim to empower both the asylum seekers and the local people, by providing a place to meet, learn and inform themselves about each other and the surrounding society.

The meeting points are staffed by one “local” and one newly-arrived resident. The combination ensures both local ownership and easy access to the asylum population. The “Meeting Points” also host a number of local NGOs who provide additional activities for both locals and asylum seekers.
